| PNB opens 74th Branch at Jammu today | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 22 Continuing the drive to improve its visibility and presence for economic development for the state, Punjab National Bank opened its 74th branch in the state today at Jammu Bye Pass. The inaugural function was presided over by Sudhanshu Pandey Divisional Commissioner Jammu while Dr. KC Dubey Director Radio Kashmir Jammu was as guest of Honour. Speaking at the function Vivek Arya Zonal Manager PNB J&K Zone informed that the bank shall shortly be opening new branches at 16 identified centres including some in un banked pockets. He also informed that PNB is presently the leader in Asia in terms of largest number of networked branches operating under CBS platform. He also added that 56 branches in the state have been connected to National Network of CBS Platform for comfort and convenience of customers. He further added that the bank is presently focusing on opening accounts with Zero Balance for rural poor, College and school students and salaried class essentially to implement Financial Inclusion Scheme of RBI. Elaborating further Arya added that the performance of the Bank under ACP 2006-2007 was second to none in J&K in terms of percentage achievement of various budgets. He made a fervent request to individuals, Vehicle dealers, Traders, Schools, Institutions and offices located on both sides of Bye Pass road to avail state of Art Banking facilities being provided at the branch from Day One. Sudhanshu Pandey informed the gathering that Banks have to play a pivotal role in waging war against poverty, unemployment and illiteracy. He appreciated the ‘Bless Scheme’ launched by Bank in J&K for hassle free education loans to needy students of the state. He also advised Bankers to sponsor artists of the state for exhibiting their work in spacious Kala Kendra in Jammu.
