Over Rs 6.90cr being spent under BADP in Leh

During the current financial year an amount of Rs.6.90 Crores is being spent in four blocks of district Leh under border area development programme (BAD).
This was disclosed in a meeting of councilors and district officers held under the chairmanship of Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Tsering Dorje,
Besides, executive councilor education and agriculture Tsering Narboo Lampa, Executive councilor health Darje Motup and Executive officer LAHDC, Leh Dr. M.K. Bhandari also attended the meeting.
The meeting dwelt in detail about that the achievement registered under BADP last year and approved the action plan for 2007-08 at Rs.6.90 crore under which 216 ongoing works in sectors like R&B flood control, education, agriculture, horticulture, soil protection; electrification, health etc would be executed.
The meeting stressed upon completion of ongoing schemes at first instance before taking new schemes.
The councilor on the occasion projected the schemes of their respective departments and put quarries on the progress and demanded clarifications on many works on which slow progress was registered.
The CEC stressed upon the need to give focus on completion of ongoing works. He assured the councilors that the major projects taken in hand under BADP would be referred for NABARD assistance due to allocation of less funds this year.
The Dy. Commissioner Dr. M.K. Bhandari while giving a detail of the activities registered under BADP in blocks Khaltsi, Nobra, Nyoma and Durbook said that the district has many peculiarities under which the implements agencies has to show added endeavor in completion of necessary formalities of administrative approval for major works and works shall be completed by April-May each year.
