| Husband beaten-up; wife, child died | | | Jammu | AUG 22 Police today registered a case against a doctor for his alleged negligence resulting into the death of a woman and her newly born child. In this connection police arrested also arrested a local youth who allegedly beat deceased husband forcing him to make patch-up with the negligent doctor at Nowshera. According to reports, a pregnant lady namely Usha Devi was brought by her husband Mangat Ram to Sub District Hospital Nowshera for delivery, where a lady doctor namely Dr. Seema attended to her and started treatment. During the treatment patient’s condition became critical and she advised her husband to take her to a nearby private clinic which is being run by her husband Dr. Ashok. As per reports, Dr. Ashok conducted her delivery in the kitchen of his clinic and gave birth to a male baby. During the delivery, her condition further worsened and Dr. Ashok advised her husband to take her to SMGS hospital Jammu for specialized treatment. On the advice of the doctor the husband took her wife along with the newly born baby to Jammu but on way the child passed away at Choki Chora. While reaching at SMGS hospital, doctors after examining the lady referred her to GMC hospital where she later on passed away. The husband Mangat Ram took body to Nowshera and protested against the doctor’s negligence along with some locals and his relatives. Reports revealed that a local youth namely Arun Sharma pressurized the husband of deceased lady to go for a patch-up with the doctor which he refused. The said youth started beating him in front of protestors and police causing serious injuries to him and later he too was shifted to GMC hospital for treatment where his condition was reported as critical. Police arrested the youth from the spot and registered a case against the doctor as last report came in.
