| Rs 1035 cr electrification project submitted to centre | | | Srinagar, August 23 – Minister for Power . Nawang Rigzin Jora today informed the Legislative Assembly that government is committed to provide electricity to all un-electrified villages, hamlets and patties in the State under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidhyuti Karan Yojna (RGGVY) by next three years. Replying to a question by . Mohammad Aslam Khan, . Jora said that funds for the restoration of the damaged infrastructure in Rajouri district have been projected under Calamity Relief Fund and restoration work would be carried out in the district as per the availability of funds under various schemes. . Jora said that under RGGVY, Rs. 48 crore are being spent in Anantnag district while Rs. 19.26 crore in Pulwama. He also said in Kathua district Rs. 32 crore are being spent under this scheme. He said that under APDRP, the state has been provided Rs. 509 crore out of Rs. 11,000 crores for replacement of 24,000 electric poles. He also said that the state received Rs. 705 crores under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) and project worth Rs. 1035 crore has been submitted under PMRP to the central government. Girdhari Lal, the Minister said that the infrastructure required for energizing the pump sets in Hiranagar is being augmented in a phased manner as per the availability of funds. He said presently, two Rural Electrification Schemes namely Barnoti and Hiranagar-Chogwal are under implementation with an estimated cost of over Rs. 2.23 crore and Rs. 1.57 crore respectively for energizing 914 irrigation pump sets, besides a new scheme has been formulated for energizing 3178 more pump sets in Hiranagar constituency and is in the process of technical clearance. He also said that for providing electricity to 25,000 irrigation pump sets in Akhnoor, Rs. 6.20 crore scheme is being prepared, while replying the supplementaries of . Sham Lal Sharma and . Ghaur Ram. The Power Minister informed the House that the existing HT/LT network in Wachi constituency is being improved in a phased manner under various schemes including APDRP. He said during the year 2006-07, one 6.3 MVA of receiving station, Reshipora developed a technical snag and was shifted for repairs and one additional 3.15 MVA power transformer was immediately re-installed at receiving station, Reshipora as stop gap arrangement. He said construction of 1 x 6.3 MVA, 33/11 KV receiving station at Imam Sahib in Wachi constituency is also proposed under APDRP. The Power Minister said this in reply to another question by . Mohammad Khalil Naik. He said 31 villages of Wachi constituency are being under RGGVY. The Minister said that un-electrified areas of Kupwara will be covered under RGGVY very soon as the scheme has already been sanctioned for the district.
