| Police registers case against SOGs | | | MENDHAR AUG-12 Following killing of a civilian allegedly by a team of SOGs in Gursai, the inhabitants of the area lodged a strong protest and blocked the road for over nine hours yesterday. The Police has registered a case against the accused and started investigations. According to the reports, the SOGs entered into the house of Latif son of Munir Hussain of Gursai village and pumped bullets on his body resulting into on the spot death. After committing the crime, the SOGs fled away from the spot. However, the Police claimed that he was killed in the cross firing between the militants and the forces. Jamila, wife of the deceased has alleged that she was cooking meals when a group of SOGs forcibly entered into her house and shot dead her husband whom they described as a militant .She said the accused wanted to take away the body along with but she resisted and made a hue and cry forcing the team to fled away.. On receipt of information about the killing the next morning, the villagers came to the streets and lodged a strong protest denouncing the action of the SOGs and blocked traffic on Gursai-Mendhar-Surankot routes for over nine hours paralyzing transport services in the area. The protestors demanded immediate action against the accused. Consequent upon the public protest, the Police registered FIR NO 71/2006 under section 425/325 of RPC and started investigation.
