| Secularism, pluralistic ethos our main strength: Azad | | Says Paddar would be brought on tourism map of country | | Machail (Paddar), August 23- Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that secularism, communal harmony, and pluralistic ethos was the biggest strength of Jammu and Kashmir and the country as a whole and emphasized the need to further strengthen this distinctiveness. The Chief Minister was addressing people on the occasion of Machail Yatra at here today. Azad said that Jammu and Kashmir as well as other parts of the country abounds in spiritual places widely revered by people irrespective of their religion, adding that this was the real strength of our people. Referring to Machail Yatra, the Chief Minister said that thousands of pilgrims from within and outside Jammu and Kashmir participate in the pilgrimage every year to pay obeisance at the shrine. He said keeping in view the vast potential for promotion of pilgrim and adventure tourism in Paddar area efforts would be made to bring the place on the tourism map of the country. Responding to the development demands presented by the locals on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that these would be looked into and measures taken to open up the area for speedier socio-economic development. The demands projected by Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha include construction of Gulabgarh-Machail road, bringing Atholi-Paddar area on tourism map, setting up of Paddar tourism development authority, ensuring power and drinking water supply enroute Gulabgarh to Machail, provision of sanitation units at yatra halting points and declaring three days holiday in Jammu division in connection with Machail yatra. Earlier on reaching Machail, the Chief Minister was given rousing reception by thousands of people. He was profusely garlanded amidst beating of drums and chanting of welcome slogans. People on the occasion also prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. Minister for Rural Development Jugal Kishore Sharma also accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
