| NO more districts now: CMvv | | | Srinagar, August 24 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that creation of new districts in Jammu and Kashmir was now a closed chapter and the Bleoria Committee was examining demands for setting up of new administrative units following carving out of 8 new districts in the State recently. Intervening during supplementaries to a question by G. A. Mir in the State Assembly today replied by Minister of State for Revenue, Prem Sagar Aziz, the Chief Minister said, “Let me make it clear that the chapter of setting up of new districts is now closed”. However, he said that after creation of 8 new districts, the demands for creation of more sub-divisions and tehsils had started pouring in from different parts of the state. He said keeping this in view, a committee was set up under the chairmanship of Dr. S. S. Bloeria and asked to examine these demands. He said parameters had been set for the creation of new administrative units according to which there should be at least 25 kilometres distance between an existing and recommended sub-division and 20 kilometres between existing and to be carved out tehsil. The Chief Minister said that the Bloeria Committee report would serve as a comprehensive database and guideline for future. He, however, clarified that in case the number of the recommended administrative units falling under the set parameters was large the recommendations would be implemented in a phased manner and not in one go. The principle of immediate necessity would be applied in such cases, he said.
