Is Panthers – NC alliance on cards?
8/24/2007 10:52:59 PM

Jammu, August 24
Will the Panthers Party forge a pre-poll alliance with the National Conference? The question has started doing the round in the state after several National Conference MLAs pleaded stoutly for revocation of suspension of Panthers Party leader, Harsh Dev Singh, from the Assembly.
Since the National Conference has emerged as a vocal political force against the Congress-PDP coalition Government the way the Panthers Party leadership has been denigrating the ruling coalition day in and day out has brought the two on one platform. The National Conference leadership could reap a rich harvest if it forged an electoral understanding or alliance with the Panthers Party in the Jammu region. Since 2002 the Panthers Party has made inroad in various areas of Jammu province and this had enabled it to win four seats for the first time.
However, the Panthers Party leader, Harsh Dev Singh, said today “It is too early to say whether we can have an alliance with the National Conference.” He said that no doubt the Panthers Party and the National Conference have been in the front seat while castigating various omissions and commissions but “we cannot predict which way the wind will blow.”
He said that the question of joining hands with the National Conference for defeating the Congress and the PDP in the next poll will come up only after the poll schedule was announced.
Meanwhile,Harsh Dev,Singh said there was no other alternative but to hold early elections in Jammu and Kashmir in order to allow people to enjoy better governance. He said that the level of governance had touched the lowest ebb and it was time to allow people to make a right choice by electing those who could serve them.Let the people decide whether they want the Congress and PDP to ruin the state or save the state by giving power to those who have been fighting for the cause of people.
