| JDA vice chairman seeks security | | | Jammu, August 24 Vice Chairman of the Jammu Development Authority Ashok Parmar is not feeling safe and is learnt to have submitted a written request to the Inspector general of Police security wing to provide him round the clock adequate security cover. The JDA Vice Chairman is believed to have forwarded his request after visualizing the threat perception and discussing the matter with the concerned authorities. Highly placed official sources said here in Jammu, we have received a formal request from the office of JDA Vice chairman requesting for personal security officer.I final decision whether to extend security cover will be taken on the basis of threat perceptin JDA Vice chairman visualises, the security official said requesting anonymity.
It may be mentioned that ever since Ashok Parmar has taken charge of the office of the vice chairman he has taken some stringent measures to check cases of illegal land grabbing and encroachment by land sharks in and around Jammu city. His tough decisions related to land deals has often irked land mafia operating in the city with the connivance of the JDA staff. Vice Chairman Ashok Parmar could not be contacted to confirm whether he had been receiving threatening calls or mails from some vested interests. A senior official in the JDA however explained that the situation is worsening in JDA as land mafias are operating in groups and to establish each others superiority they are prepared to go to any extent.The govt should not wait longer before taking a final decision in the matter as several former JDA Vice chairmans were provided with security cover, a senior state govt official said.
