| Azad walks through city bazaars, inspects beautification programme | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER Jammu, August 13 To examine the progress of development works being executed in the old Jammu city, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad last night walked through bazaars and interacted with people. Treading the busy areas of Raghunath Bazaar, Kanak Mandi, Shalimar road, Rajinder Bazaar, Residency road on foot, Chief Minister accompanied by Minister of State for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak inspected the widening work of city roads, construction of deep drains, erection of foot paths and other measures to beautify the old city. At Raghunath Bazaar, the Chief Minister directed the accompanying engineers for undergrounding all the cables and electric wires, besides repairing the roads. He said that undergrounding all the cables would not only add to the magnificence of the busiest commercial centre of the city, but also facilitate the movement of visitors and other people in the area besides rendering it a new-wider look. The Chief Minister inspected the work on deep drains at Shalimar and Rajinder Bazaar and gave inputs to the engineers. He stressed upon the business community of these areas to monitor all these works especially with regard to the quality of the material used apart from rendering all possible assistance to the authorities in voluntarily removing the encroachments, as this alone would ensure proper space utilization and attractiveness of the old city. Interacting with the businessmen of these areas, Mr. Azad said that the whole development and beautification work is being executed in double and triple shift system that would ensure its speedy completion even before the targeted time frame. He also informed them about other development projects formulated for enhancing exquisiteness and ensuring daintiness of Jammu city.
