| Govt keen to redress the problems of employees: Mangat | | | Srinagar, August 24 Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma has said that government is keen to redress the problems being faced by the state government employees adding that in this connection several steps have been initiated during last five years. Responding to a point raised by Abdul Rahim Rather during Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly today, Sharma stressed upon employees to come forward for negotiations instead of resorting to strikes. Minister for CA&PD Taj Mohi-ud-Din in response to a point by Sartaj Madni said that the promotions in the CA&PD Department are made purely on merit, seniority and on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee. In all 35 members raised various issues pertaining to development and welfare of the people of their constituencies. Mohammad Khalil Naik and Abdul Rehman Veeri stressed to boost the fruit industry in the state and demanded to provide card board boxes to the fruit growers besides bringing them under Crop Insurance. Gharu Ram appreciated the government for granting OBC status to Lubhana community and demanded that Jatt Bardari be also conferred OBC status. Usman Majid raised the issue of assassination of two persons in Chak-e-Arsalan Khan area of Bandipora Tehsil and demanded investigation of the matter. Mian Altaf Ahmad demanded providing staff in Government Medical College Srinagar where as Yashpal Kundal and Mula Ram demanded amendment in SRO-294. Mohammad Yasin Shah demanded repairs and renovations of the Pantha Chowk-Zewan-Khunmoh road while as. Khem Lata Wakhloo raised the issue of shifting of Rural Water Division Nowshera to Ganderbal and Mohammad Syed Akhoon pleaded for restoration of damaged Tailbal bridge. Mir Saifullah raised the point of occupation of land and orchards by the Army in Kralpora Panjgam while as. Ajay Sadhotra advocated to improve the living standard of ex-servicemen by providing them honorarium. Jugal Kishore (BJP) demanded compensation to those farmers whose houses and crops got damaged due to the rains while as Mrs. Shanti Devi raised the issue of different fee structures adopted by private schools to the students. S.D. Shariq demanded streamlining the functioning of Education Department. M.Y. Tarigami raised the point of backdoor appointments made in different government departments since 1996 and demanded tabling the report of the House Committee constituted to look into these in the House. He also demanded proper implementation of SRO-43 for providing jobs to kins of militancy related victims. Dr. Mehboob Baig raised the point of harassment to traders and students in other states of the country and demanded ensuring their safety. Ashwani Sharma diverted the attention of the government towards the enhanced rates of power tariff to floor grinding mills in the state while as Mr. Sajid Ahmad Kitchloo demanded adequate funds for Kishtwar district. Nazir Gurezi demanded special quota for Shinna people of Gurez Tehsil under Scheduled Tribe while as Mr. Ghulam Nabi Bhat demanded re-opening of Shikargah bridge in Tral and Mr. Javid Rana demanded for providing hand pumps in Mendhar area. G.M. Saroori lauded the implementation of Roshni Act in the state and demanded adjustment of Patwaris on contractual basis to implement the Act properly. Puran Singh demanded strengthening of infrastructure for providing electricity in Budhal and Darhal while as Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari demanded opening of University Campus in Poonch. Legislators. Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Girdhari Lal, Mtr. Kanta Andhotra and Syeed Aga Ruhulla also raised various issues during Zero Hour in the House pertaining to their constituencies.
