As many as 24000 quintals of rice, 127000 quintals of atta and 4500 quintals of sugar have been stored up to August 22nd , 2007 in Kargil to cater the need of ration during the winter months against the required target of 60000 quintals of Rice, 55000 quintals of atta and 7000 quintals of sugar.
This information was given in joint meeting of district officers and Executive Councilors held here to review the stock position of essential commodities and other building materials. The chairman CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalaie chaired the meeting.
The CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalaie reviewed various development activities being registered in the district and focused maximum attention on the stock position especially of essential commodities, medicines and other urgent nature of building materials when Kargil remain closed for winter six month following closure of Zalila pass due to heavy snowfall.
It was held in the meeting that 53599 bags of cement, 320 quintals of steel of sorts 1700 Barrel of Bitumen have been stocked by PWD, Kargil so far. The balance stocking of 61901 bags cement 2895 quintal of steel of sorts and 703 Quintals CGI/PGI sheets are yet to be received. It was also revealed in the meeting 1500 quintals feed and fire wood, 400 quintals of hard coke, 7500 quintals of consumer goods are yet to be stocked. It was also informed in the meeting the cement and CGI sheets of RDD, timber/Fire wood of forest and S.T of electric department Kargil have not received till date.
The meeting was reviewed the stock position of building material and other items like agriculture department, health, animal and sheep Husbandry, Coroperative, PDD, Educations, FCI, IOC and HO gas agency, NHPC, Chutuk/ HCC etc. Haji Karbalaie impressed upon the concerned officers/agencies to ensure prompt stocking.
The CEC, Haji Karbalaie also directed the concerned officers for dispatching of essential commodities and other materials to Zanskar as soon as possible as Zanskar itself remain blocked with Kargil.
Among other who present in the meeting includes Executive Councilors Nasir Hussain, Munshi, Haji Mohd. Ishaq, Sonam Namgyal, Kacho Guljar Hussain khan, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil RK Bhagat, District Officers and representatives of various agencies.
