Army dedicates school building, water supply scheme to villagers

Poonch, August 26: Army dedicated a newly constructed school building and water supply Scheme, sanctioned under Border Area Development Project (BAPD) to the people of far off village Tain about 30 kilometres from here.
Village Tain is one of the remotest villages lying close to the Line of Control inhabiting mostly the Gujjars. The army felt the need to construct a new Middle school building as the previous one had just two rooms which was insufficient for a large number of students.
The new Middle School and water supply Scheme was inaugurated by Brigadier Gurdeep Singh, Commander Krishna Ghati Brigade in presence of a large gathering of civilian dignitaries of the area, villagers and children.
The scheme was executed by Colonel Y.S Ahlawat, Commanding officer, Barasingha Battalion.
Similarly the water supply Scheme will be of great help not only for the people of Tain but also for the residents of Choi and Chirangari villages .
The function was attended by Panchayat members and 300 villagers apart from the prominent personalities of administration.
On the occasion, Gurdeep Singh distributed stationery to the students of Middle School which comprised of school bag, instrument box, notebooks, pencils, erasers and water bottles.
Prominent among local dignitaries present on the occasion included M.H. Shah, Tehsildar Mendhar, Ashraf Chauhan, Dy. Chief Education Officer, Mohammed Tanveer, Block Development Officer and A.K Quereshi, Assistant Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department.
