| Gujjar, Bakerwal students flay government | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 26 All J&K Gujjar and Bakerwal Students Federation criticized the government policy to give ST status to Pahari speaking people but ignoring them. Addressing media persons, Shahnawas Chowdhary State President of the federation said that constitution of India permits to confer ST status to any tribal community on the basis of culture, language, and ethnicity. Paharis do not deserve as Pahari is not a language but a dilect. He said it is a deliberate attempt to dilute ST status and a planned invasion into unique identity of the community. Shahnawaz Choudhary criticized the statements passed by so called Pahari leaders regarding the grant of political reservation to Gujjars. He appealed the Chief Minister to give Gujjars political reservation which is their constitutional right. Meanwhile, Choudhary welcome the decision of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to give the charge of Vice Chairman Gujjar advisory Board to Haji Ali, Social Welfare Minister and also thanked Nisar Ali to introduce a separate directorate for the affairs of Gujjar and Bakerwals which will help the community to access their rights and privileges conferred by Constitution of India.
