Chaman Lal Gupta, in his address, said that the BJP in the state had to pay heavy price in 2002 assembly elections for its alliance with the NC at the centre because the people of Jammu region had not forgotten the maltreatment given by Sheikh Abdullah to them. He said the NC right from 50s has treated the Jammu region as a colony and always suppressed the voice of the people by resorting to inhuman treatment. Kavinder Gupta, in his inaugural address, said that the people of Jammu city, who returned three MLAs of Congress to the State assembly with high hopes are feeling betrayed and have made up their mind to teach these leaders of Congress a lesson in the coming elections. The working Committee, later, adopted a resolution asking the partymen to take pledge to work for the mitigation of the sufferings of the people and ensuring victory of the BJP so that the 60 year old discrimination is ended and people of Jammu region get their legitimate share.
