| Probe killing of Abdul Qayoom: Haji Rashid directs SDM | | | Poonch, August 26 – Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Corporation Haji Abdul Rashid today visited residence of Late Abdul Qayoom Lone at Watlab in Sopore and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family. Mr. Lone had passed away in a firing incident of CRPF the other day. The Chairman on the occasion directed SDM Sopore to probe the incident. He also impressed upon District Development Commissioner Baramulla to prepare exgratia case of Mr. Lone on priority basis and also directed for granting employment to the next of kin of the deceased under SRO 43. Later, addressing a public meeting at Watlab Haji Abdul Rashid said that Azad-led coalition government has embarked into a massive development programme and is committed to steer the state on the path of progress and prosperity. He said composite dialogue between India and Pakistan is on at varius levels and a mechanism is being worked out for kicking off trade and commerce activities. This, he said would boost economy besides promoting fruit industry in the state in a big way. Referring to development scenario in Sopore constituency, Haji said that eight water supply schemes costing Rs. 9.50 crore are nearing completion while Rs. 14 crore stand utilized on the construction of various roads in the constituency under NABARD. In addition, he said Rs. 7.50 crore would be spent on five new water supply schemes shortly.
