| Six roads costing Rs. 25 cr for Poonch being taken up: Charak Six roads costing Rs. 25 cr for Poonch being taken up: Charak Six roads costing Rs. 25 cr for Poonch being taken up: Charak | | | Poonch, August 26 – To provide better road connectivity in Poonch district as many as 211 road projects are under execution under district plan. Six more road projects are also being taken up with the involvement of Rs. 25 crore under NABARD funding. This was stated by Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Chark after laying foundation of 2 km long road from Loran to Sib (Poonch) to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 94.22 lakhs. The road has been taken up under PMGSY Phase V with which 2070 souls would be benefited on its completion. Charak said on this occasion said the government has taken a massive road connectivity programme in hand under Bharat Nirman programme to connect all un-connected habitations with main roads. He said that six road projects have been taken under NABARD includes Sekloo-Saloonia, Bainch-Zairth-Mukajala, Brain to Harni Budha, Jaba-Behra, Sakrimaidan-Kalia road and Harni-B.G. road. He said that the work on these roads is in full swing and would be completed within stipulated time. Mr. Charak said that 33 more road projects for Poonch district at an estimated cost of Rs. 80 crore have been sent to NABARD for funding and hoped their sanction and consequent execution. The Minister said that under PMGSY Rs. 143.05 crore would be spent on 78 roads in the district under Core Network programme in different phases and connect 115 villages having total population of 205557 souls. The Minister said, out of 78 road projects, 10 road projects have been taken in hand for execution at a cost of Rs. 16.19 crore. The allotment of other four roads has also been made and work would start soon, he said. He directed the Chief Engineer R&B Jammu to personally monitor the execution of work on all roads and ensure use of quality material. He said that there should be no compromise on quality of material. He also directed to speed up the pace of work and complete all these roads projects within prescribed timeframe.
