Rs 171 crore being spent on Poonch roads under various schemes: Charak

POONCH, AUGUST 26 :- About Rs. 129 crore are being spent on 211 roads of district Poonch under district sector to provide better road connectivity to the hilly district. Similarly Rs. 25 crore is also being spent on another six roads under NABARD.
This was announced by Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak while laying a foundation of 2 km long road from Loran to Sib (Poonch) to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 94.22 lakhs. The road is being constructed under PMGSY Phase V and would benefit about 2070 souls after its completion.
Charak said that government has taken a massive road connectivity programme in hand under Bharat Nirman Programme to connect all un-connected habitation with main roads. He said that the six roads taken under NABARD includes Sekloo-Saloonla, Bainch- Zairth Mukajala, Brain to Hari Budha, Jaba-Behra, Sakhimaidan –Kalai road and Harni- B.G road. He said the work on these roads are in full pace and would be completed within stipulated time.
Charak said that 33 more road projects at an estimated cost of Rs. 80 crore of Poonch district have been sent to NABARD for funding and hoped that they are likely to be sanctioned and would be executed during the current financial year.
Under PMGSY Rs. 143.05 crores would be spent on 78 roads in the district under core-net work programme in different phases to connect 115 villages having total population of 2,08,557 souls, he said. The Minister said out of 78 road projects, 10 roads have been taken in hand for execution at a cost of Rs. 16.19 crores to benefit 33904 souls. The allotment of other four roads has also been made and work on these roads would start soon, he said.
Minister directed the Chief Engineer R&B Jammu to personally monitor the execution work on all these roads and ensure that quality material should be used. He said there is no compromise on quality of material. He also directed to speed up the pace of work and complete all these roads projects within prescribed time frame.
