| Lawyers protest against GMC doctors, demand action | | | Jammu, Aug 27 : Normal work was paralysed in all courts, here today, following a protest by Young Lawyers Association against the manhandling of an advocate by doctors of Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu. The YLA suspended work in all the courts today against the alleged manhandling of an advocate, Karamat Ullah Pathan, allegedly by the doctors at GMC, where he was admitted due to acute dehydration. Raising slogans against the doctors and police, the lawyers also staged a protest demonstration outside the court building and demanded immediate action against the guilty doctors. "It is very unfortunate that some black sheep in a noble profession have been acting like goons in the hospitals", M. Saleem Malik, one of the members of YLA told News Agency of Kashmir. He said that such doctors should not be posted on emergency duties. Threatening to intensify their agitation, the YLA members urged the police authorities to register an FIR in the matter. "The matter is serious and if police failed to lodge an FIR we may intensify the agitation", another member of the Association said. As per the reports, Advocate Karamat Ullah Pathan, was rushed to Emergency ward of GMC Jammu on Sunday but instead of treatment the doctors slapped him and used filthy language.
