| SP asks CM to first purge cabinet, administration from corrupt elements | | | Jammu Aug 27- While hailing the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for his call to social sanctions against the corrupt people, the State Unit of Samajwadi Party has dared him (CM) to first disassociate him self or for that matter get rid of tainted ministerial colleagues. In a joint statement issued here today, State Secretary General Ram Prakash Sharma and Sham Lal Mahasha, state secretary said that there is hell of difference between words and deeds adding that ever since Azad took over as CM two years ago, he has been repeatedly parroting his resolve to eradicate the menace of corruption from the corridors of power but at the same time inducted nearly half a dozen tainted faces in his own cabinet in whose presence it seems rather impossible to carry out the fight against the occupation. Asking CM to first set his house in order which is not only divided but also oppose his policies and program tooth and nail, the SP leaders referred to the growing criticism by his ministerial colleagues against the State Vigilance Organization. These leaders have asked the CM to first purge his own cabinet and state higher officialdom of corrupt elements, which is rather pre-requisite to carry forward any war against corruption. Expressing dismay over the outright rejection of carving out any fresh district by the CM, the SP leaders said that this categorical refusal smacks of discrimination with Jammu region which despite having 50 per cent more area and inaccessible and backward areas in fact need more administrative units for the convenience of the people. They also ridiculed the new criteria of at least having a minimum distance of 20 Kms between the existing one and the proposed district and said that whereas in Kashmir Valley the distance between one and another district is not more than 16 Kms which itself speaks volumes of discrimination with Jammu region, the statement added.
