Take advantage of the prevailing conducive
environment for lasting peace in the sub-continent: Hakeem

Srinagar August 28
Minister for Transport and Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has urged for taking forward the peace process to resolve the Kashmir issue adding that dialogue is the only way to address all problems the only option for ensuring lasting peace in the State.
Addressing a well attended public gathering today at Ompora in Budgam district, Hakeem Yaseen said that India and Pakistan should take advantage from the present conducive atmosphere and come across the table with open mind on various issues including Kashmir saying that the leaders of various parties of the State should also be involved in the dialogue. He said keeping in view the changing scenario at global level this is right time for dialogue to sustain peace in Jammu and Kashmir State as well as sub-continent. He said basically the people of the State are peace and prosperity loving, for which they should be given a chance.
Referring to the present political scenario in the State, Hakeem Yaseen said that by indulging in emotional slogans the people of the State were exploited by various political groups whose only aim was to work for their narrow interests, saying that time has now changed and the people judge the political masters by their deeds and not by words. He said development taking place during recent years in social and economic fields in the State indicate enough of the positive change that have been ushered in the State.
Hakeem Yaseen called upon the political leaders of the State to come forward and work jointly on a single platform for the development of the State as well, for finding an amicable and lasting solution of all outstanding issues.
The Minister said that the State is marching ahead towards development. He said government is aware of the problems confronting the people adding that steps are already underway to provide basic amenities to the people. He said work is a pace on dozens of projects in the State which would be completed during next one year. He said road communication, drinking water, power supply and medicare are the priorities of the government.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister assured that work on receiving station at Ompora would be started soon while as those families whose land has been acquired for the railway project would be rehabilitated accordingly. He said inner links road in Ompora would be renovated besides drinking water shortage will be dealt on priority. He said 300 Education Guarantee Centres would be opened in Budgam district while as 57 schools would be upgraded to the level of middle standard. He assured that Ompora-Narkarah road would be macadamized within next one month.
