| Completion of Mughal road taps new world class tourist destinations: Charak | | | Bafliaz, August 28 Saying that prestigious project of Mughal road is a cherished dream of people of Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak directs Project Manager, Hindustan Construction Corporation to further speed up the pace of work to achieve the target with in the prescribed time. He said that the execution of prestigious Mughal Road project involving a cost of Rs. 255 crore is in full swing. Thirty kms road length from Bafliaz side and 28 kms from Shopian side with an expenditure of Rs. 93 crore have been made fair weather so far. This direction was given by the Minister during his inspection of the road from Bafliaz side. He said all the bottlenecks for construction of this road have been cleared and the Supreme Court has also given its decision to go ahead with the execution of this road through sanctuary areas. The Minister during his inspection visited construction sites of Bafliaz, Chandi Morh, Noorichum, Allhakhordi, Pavad, Dogorian, Porhana top and Chattapani Morh. The Minister was apprised that during current financial year fair weather road would be completed upto Pir-Ki-Gali and first 5 kms road would be black topped besides 35 kms road length is being made double lanned from Bafliaz onwards. During the visit the Minister was given a rousing welcome by the people of the area and also hailed the strenuous efforts of the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad in removing the bottleneck in the speedy execution of Mughal road project. Mr. Charak also addressed a series of public meetings during his tour and said that government is committed to uplift the socio-economic condition of the inhabitants of far-off and hilly areas. He said various innovative and revolutionary steps have been taken under which the state is marching faster towards peace and prosperity. He said Poonch and Rajouri have vast potential of tourism and by constructing of Mughal road these two districts would get more and more attention of tourists not only at country level but also at the international level. He said new tourist destination is being identified along the both sides of the road. He said that the magic water at the site of “Noorichum” which is named abets the wife of Mughal Empire Jahangir would also become a famous tourist destination. The Minister said that this road would not only provide easy to and fro facilities to people of the state but also boost trade and commerce adding that this road would also facilitate as an alternate road of Srinagar-Jammu national highway. Mr. Charak called upon the people to be aware about the mischiefs of miscreants and he called upon the people to keep vigil and developmental activities and if focused any hanky panky inform the government for immediate action. The Minister exhorted upon the officers and engineers to redouble their efforts and work with missionary spirit for the welfare of the people. He directed for ensuring timely completion of all the on going developmental projects. He also instructed them to intensify their frequent visits as directed by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad in remote and hilly areas and listen to the people’s problems and demands for on spot redressal. Additional District Development Commissioner Poonch Mr. Mubarak Singh, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Mr. M. M. Sharma, Executive Engineer Mughal Road, Project Manager HCC and local Congress and PDP leaders were accompanied the Minister during his tour.
