Road development programme in Srinagar under execution: Charak

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 29 – Minister for R&B
Gulchain Singh Charak today inspected the mecadamization work of various interior roads of Srinagar city which are being developed under City Road Development Programme (CRDP). He said under this programme Rs 7 crore are being spent on various interior and outer roads of city during this fiscal.
The roads inspected by the Minister include Babdam, Khanka Mohallah, Bohrikadal, Nowhata and Fatehkadal.
During the inspection the Minister was informed that mecadamization work on Babdam road, Khanka Mohallah-Qaziyar road, Nowhata-Borikadal road have been completed at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. He was also informed that the execution of work of Rs. 12 lakh Fatehkadal-Malikangan road would be taken on August 31, 2007.
During the inspection Minister personally checked the width of blacktopping and directed the Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir to release the amount for work done. He asked that the concerned Executive Engineer to personally monitor the execution of work and added that for any complaint regarding quality of material the concerned would be responsible. He directed the Chief Engineer to take all these roads of the city which are highlighted during the city road development project immediately as the working season is running fast in valley.
Taking a strong note of dilapidated condition of Awantipora, Tral, road via Noorpora, the Minister directs the chief engineer to blacktop the damaged portion of the road immediately during this current year as the people of the area are facing lot of inconvenience.
