| Army chief to visit Russia to witness anti terrorism exercise | | | Srinagar 29 Aug : Army Chief Gen J J Singh will also be visiting Russia next month as part of high level visits to Moscow in the run up to the crucial joint inter-Governmental Military and Technical Commission meeting in October. Singh, heading a high level Army delegation would be in Russia for four days from September 15 to 19 to take up defense and security issues with Russian military top brass. His visit to Moscow will come close on the heels of the tour there by the National Security Adviser M K Narayanan and by two other defense delegations. Though the Army Chief said that his tour to Moscow was timed to witness first ever major Indo-Russian anti terrorism exercises, sources said the issue of price escalation of the Russian defense supplies may also figure in the talks. Crack Indian paratroopers will fly to Russia to carry out search and destroy exercises in the Pskov region deep in the northwestern part of the country from September 16 to 18. Indra-2007, as the war-game has been codenamed, will be held in the headquarters of Russia’s Elite Airborne Division, situated only a few dozen kilometers from the enlarged Nato borders of Estonia and Lithuania.
