| No let up in terrorism: Chaman | | |

Emphasizing for total review of the policies for tackling the menace of cross border terror the former union Minister and a senior leader of the BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta sad that notwithstanding peace process with Pakistan, there is no let up in the ISI design. The target area of ISI-North has been expanded from Kashmir to whole of Indian with added in Bangladesh and Nepal.
Interacting with a group of ex-servicemen, Prof Gupta said a strange situation as developing but for policies of appeasement towards separatists and ultras adopted by the congress led coalition, both at the centre as also in the state. This has led to the impression that India is a soft state providing encouragement to the enemy of the peace. The withdrawal of POTA, reduction of troops from many militancy infected areas and no punishment under the law of the land to terrorists and their collaborators, are the main reasons for sustaining, rather expansion in the area of operations by element hostile to India.
The former union minister of state defence observed with though it was old practice of Pakistan to create sleeping cells and haver agents of influence in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir but during the Shri Vajpayee led NDA rule about 150 such modules were busted. Now their number in the country have fast increased. According to one report the ISI-North have developed over 2000 sleeping cells in this country including about 500 in Jammu and Kashmir. The agents of influence are also operating more vigorously. Their boggy for violation of human rights have obvious adverse effects on the morale of he forces taking upon the ultras, especially when such voices are being raised from within the ruling junta.
Prof Gupta said that in such a situation the people in general especially the ex-servicemen have a special role to play to keep up the morale of the troops taking upon the enemy as also to generate awareness amongst the people to expose the hidden enemy. Moreso, the ex-servicemen would have to keep watch on the activities and movement of the suspects taking shelter in various guises, he added.
About the role US and other word posers. Prof. Gupta said that India would have to fight to their interests as also the enemies on their own. No doubt for some time past after the terrorist attack in USA and in other countries, many powers are denouncing terrorism but no one in the present day world is prepared to fights for others. This is evident from the fact that US is forcing Pakistan to hand over them are ultras of Al-Quaida and Talibinain clan but they get Luke warm in asking Pakistan to close the training camps of Lashkar-e- Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohd., Hzib-ul-Mujahideen and other outfits which are openly headquartered in Pakistan and operating against India.
But for this sad situation the policies of men in power are more responsible rather than any body else, he added and observed that if the first client is not eager to persuade case, other would automatically get softer.
