| OPENS LID OF 37 SOFT DRINK BOTTLES IN ONE MINUTE IN ONE GO | | TAHIR SET TO ENTER RECORD BOOKS | |
Jammu, August 31: Tahir Ali, a 33 year old businessman from Jammu is aiming high and will soon enter the record books as he has achieved a unique feat of opening the lid of 37 soft drink bottles with his teeth in one minute and in one go.
On Thursday evening when Tahir performed the feat in the presence of his close friends and media men in Jammu he successfully opened 37 soft drink bottles amid loud cheer by his near and dear ones.
Soon after performing the feat Tahir told media men, “After I have convinced people that I can open the lid of more than three dozen soft drink bottles I have decided to approach the Limca book of records and the Guinesse book of records for registering my name”.
He said, “My childhood dream was to become a cricketer. I could not become so because my father Mazhar Ali Shah, who served Jammu and Kashmir police, was very strict and wanted me to devote full time to my studies. It is my mother Asmat Khatoon who always supported me and I have achieved this feat only due to her blessings.
Narrating his experiences, Tahir said, “My batchmates in the school were poor and we would pool our pocket money for buying a bottle of soft drink. And one or the other would throw a challenge that he who opened the lid of the bottle with his teeth would be given the bottle to drink.” He added ,” in my first attempt I opened the lid after a five minutes struggle”.
As days passed by I improved on my performance by opening more than two to three bottles in five minutes. “My classmates thereafter did not throw any challenge but I kept on trying to make further improvement and improvisation. A stage came when I succeeded in opening lids of over three dozen bottles in one go. In the process of my making it to the Guinesse book of world records I did not do well in my studies with the result I had to open a shop for eking out living for myself and family members.
Asked whether he was taking any special care of his teeth Tahir said,” I do not do anything specific. Like any other common man I brush my teeth twice a day.”
Aizaz Mir, a carpet dealer and a childhood friend of Tahir said,” we are proud of Tahir because he has done what others cannot even dream of.”Komal Preet Kaur another friend said, we are cheering Tahir from early days.When he told us that he can perform this feat we motivated and encouraged him to go ahead and perform.Now we are waiting for the big day when Tahir’s name will finally be inked in the record books,Kour said.
