Jammu, Aug 13 The army has come to the rescue of nearly 300 foreign tourists marooned in the flood-hit Ladakh region, army sources said today. "Our jawans and officers rescued nearly 300 foreign tourists in Zanaskar valley in Kargil district and other places in Leh district during the eight day long relief and rescue operation in Ladakh," they said. While four foreigners from United States were airlifted in chopper operation from Zanaskar area, others were rescued from in Kargil and Leh districts, they said. They were taken to Leh, from where they will fly back to Delhi, they said adding several more foreigners were still stuck up in Markha, Sara, Darchik and Suru valley, they said. Efforts are on rescue them and airlift them to Leh, they said. |
