| Expedition flagged off | | | Jammu, 31 August 2007 Lieutenant General BS Nagal, General Officer Commanding Rising Star Corps, flagged off a trekking expedition by 616 (I) Air Defence Brigade, today from Yol. The expedition is being undertaken in the Dauladhar mountains between Yol and Manali. The expedition comprises of two officers and ten Jawans. The area proposed to be traversed includes a few population centres as also the high mountains with glaciers. The highest point on the route will be approximate 4700 meter high. The group of two officers and ten Jawans will cover a distance of about 190 km from Yol to Manali in a time frame of 12 days. The expedition is expected to give the participants an opportunity to explore the mountains while interacting with the locals and enable better understanding of the local environment and security aspects. Adventure training has always been an important component of military training, providing an opportunity for the Army personnel to develop leadership qualities, besides, physical as well as mental robustness, said a PIB (Defence Wing) release
