| Rs. 40 cr for infrastructure development in new districts: Prem Sagar | | | Srinagar, September 01 – In reply to a calling attention notice by Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Minister of State for Finance Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz told the Legislative Council today “the state Cabinet decided to create eight new districts, three sub-divisions and 11 tehsils, a Committee of officers under the chairmanship of Dr. S. S. Bloeria retired Chief Secretary was constituted for demarcation of the new administrative units. Recommendations of the said Committee were received by the Government, notified for inviting objections of the public and examined by the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for the purpose. The recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee were placed before the Cabinet which were accepted and the new administrative units created which have been made functional. An amount of Rs. 5 crore per district stands released by the Planning and Development Department for each newly created district for creation of infrastructure. He said that a total amount of Rs. 40 crore has been earmarked for newly created eight districts in the state. A Committee of officers has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to examine the cases of each new administrative unit for creation of infrastructure. The Committee is examining acquisition of land, location of new administrative units and the design of the new construction. Cases are expected to be sorted-out shortly so that the process of creation of infrastructure at new administrative units takes place. Since creation of adequate infrastructure for future requirements of the newly created administrative units is a staggered process, the new administrative units have been made functional by providing bare minimum requirements and will continue to function as such till the new infrastructure comes up”.
