| GMC spokesman denies death of woman due to some injections | | | JAMMU Sept-1- A spokesman of the Government Medical College Jammu has clarified the report published in a section of press here today regarding death of a patient due to administering of some injections/glucose in the Associated Hospital of GMC Jammu. The report about the death as a result of reaction due to glucose and other infection is totally baseless and far from the truth, the spokesman added. The spokesman said that the report was sought from Professor and HOD Gynae and Obstt SMGH Hospital who has conveyed that Kulvinder Kour wife of Rajinder Singh was referred from Kathua to SMGS Hospital as a pregnancy case with severe hypertension on August 25 last. Because of severe hypertension with pregnancy, she developed Brain hemorrhage, a known complaint of hypertension in pregnancy and was shifted to IUC GMC for better management where she later died. The spokesman further said that one Geeta Devi sife of Preetam Singh of Kayat Udhampur was admitted on August 27 with a history of delivery at home followed by bleeding and shock. The patient reached the hospital after traveling more than 100 Kms in a very serious condition and her pulse was not recordable and the Pupils were dilated. The patient was resuscitated, incubated and was put on ventilator. She is still in ICU of GMC. The spokesman said that both the patients referred in the newspaper reports had come with the complication of pregnancy and have never developed any reaction to any drug mentioned in the reports. The spokesman maintained that the patients from all parts of Jammu province and adjoining areas after developing complications are referred to Associated Hospitals who are traveling long distances land up in the emergency in very serious condition where their management in such situations is very difficult.
