| Quiz contest held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu Sept. 1 The department of pediatrics SMGS Hospital Govt. Medical College has organized the intercollegiate round of 20th Indian academy of Pediatrics undergraduate quiz contest, under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Gupta. Quiz was organized amongst students of prefinal and final year MBBS of medical college Jammu today in the auditorium of SMGS Hospital in collaboration with Indian academy of pediatrics J&K State branch. Dr. Rajinder Singh, principal and dean govt. medical college was the chief guest of honour and Dr. Bhupinder Singh HOD P& SM was the chairman signification. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Ashok K. Gupta said that four teams have been selected for today. Quiz contest after the preliminarily screening of 42 teams held on Aug 29. Last 20 years since its introduction the Deptt. of pediatrics has been organizing the quiz. The sole purpose of the quiz is training and teaching and increasing awareness and updating of knowledge about the diseases of newborn, children and adolescents and thus reducing the neonatal infant and under five mortality and morbidity and promotion of adolescent health care which is the primary objective of our ambitious national rural health mission programme launched the govt. of India. Appreciating efforts of the dept. Dr. Rajinder Singh said that such teaching programme are must for academic activities of the institution which sharpen their skills and inculcate a sense of competition Dr. Rajinder Singh Congratulated the teams and awarded Rs. 1000/- Rs. 700/- and 500/- to the winning team running up and team which stood third. All the participating teams were liven merit certificates. The winner team comprising of Dr. Shatal and Dr. Rohini shall participate in the Divisional round to be held on 15th Sept.
