JKSRTC employee dies, family holds minister responsible
9/2/2007 9:56:24 PM

Jammu | Sep 1
Family members along with locals and employees of JKSRTC federation staged a protest demonstration at Rehari Chungi after the death of an employee who died due to heart attack yesterday. They allegedly blamed on the JKSRTC Minister Mohammed Hakeem Yasin for the death of employee and demanded employment for deceased’s wife and immediate release of pending salary of employee.
According to reports, Anil Sharma son of Suraj Parkash Sharma resident of Rehari who was Assistant Fitter in JKSRTC had a heart attack in his office and his other associates took him to hospital where he died later. His family members and the employees of the Corporation held the Department and the Transport Minister who is also the Chairman of the SRTC responsible for his death. They alleged that the deceased and his family members were put to starvation following denial of hard earned salary since last four months. They said that the Corporation employees were under great depression and the death of Anil Sharma was the first case of its kind.
His family members told that he was the only bread earner of the family and was under depression as owed lot of money to the shopkeepers who stopped giving rations and other essentials to him on credit and even her daughter Ruhi Sharma who passed her part-I examination could not get admission in the college in next class for want of requisite admission fee.
According to the family members when the deceased left his home for office he was very tense and worried about the family and his daughter. They said despite repeated requests for release of salary the government and the management of the Corporation paid no heed to the requests resulting into the death of an honest and dedicated employee.
Other employees who also joined the protest with family members of deceased said that while on one hand the Transport Minister Mohd Hakim Yasin had been maintaining that the Corporation had been undergoing huge losses due to surplus staff on the other he appointed 25 persons from Doda district alone through back door entry into the Corporation.
They demanded that employment should be given to the deceased wife besides releasing pending salary of the Corporation employees.
It may be recalled that one more employee of the Corporation namely Mohammed Shoukat died due to heart attack some days back due to depression.
