| TJAC to hold dharna on Teachers’ Day | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu September 2, 2007 Alleging disparity with the teaching community, Kulwant Singh Press Secretary of All Teachers Joint Action Committee has said that the government was non- serious towards the long pending demand of the teachers. Addressing pressmen here he said that due to the wrong policies of the government the teaching community was badly suffering adding that its most of the demands have remained unfilled despite promises and assurances by the authorities. He said the teaching community has been clamoring for grant of notional and financial benefits from 1996 on the pattern of Accounts department, benefits of earned leave, initial higher start for the qualified teachers, enhancement in retirement age from 58 to 62 years and regularization of RET teachers. He said the JAC has decided to hold a massive dharna and observe protest day on the eve of Teachers’ Day, which falls on September 5.. The dharna will start from 10 am in the morning in front of the Divisional Commissioner, officer, at Mubarak Mandi complex, he added. He has also appealed all members of the association to participate in this protest dharna.
