| Reuse, reduce and recycle solid waste | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER Bhaderwah | Aug 13 Government College Bhaderwah, in collaboration with WWF-Nature India, convened a seminar on ‘Solid Waste Management’ in connection with National Environmental Awareness Campaign (NEAC), here today, a release said. Talat Perwaiz, SDM and Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Development Authority Bhaderwah was the Chief Guest while Javeed Azad, Chairman Municipal committee Bhaderwah and Mohd. Ayub ex- Principal were the guests of honour and Principal I/C SA Qazi inaugurated and presided over the seminar, and Prof. R.K. Khajuria, ex- principal, Prof.Akhter Hussain and Prof. Showket Ali acted as judges, the release said. Dr. Javeed iqbal, HOD Botany while presenting the welcome address elaborated upon the theme ‘Solid Waste Management’ and appealed for Reuse, Reduction and Recycling of the solid waste, SDM Bhaderwah, T. Aziz appreciated the the college for the good job, and stressed upon the use of SWM and eco-friendly technology for development of tourism, added the release. According to release, about 20 students presenting their views stressed upon cleanliness of street drains, installation of large storage bins, disposal in sanitary landfill and formation of compost pits etc. Tanveer Ahmed, Nazma and Imtiyaz got the first three positions respectively, Feroz Khan and Ajay Manhas got the consolation prizes. Others present included Ab. Hafiz Wani, a local leader, Ab. Haq Zargar, Secy. Red Cross Society Doda, Proffessors PR Khajuria, Mohan Singh Jai Prakash.
