| Assessment of loss in drought sought | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu Sept 3 :BJP state general secretary Bali Bhagat has expressed his grave concern over the long dry spell and drought like condition resulting in total failure of Kharief Crops in Ramban, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar districts and demanded conducting of special girdawari to assess the quantum of loss to the poor peasants. The BJP leader emphasized that the affected population of the area the provided six months free ration, cash relief as per the loss suffered and supply of free fodder to save lives stock as well as cent per cent subsidized seeds, fertilizers and other agriculture inputs to he farmers for the coming Robby crops. The former legislator said that the crop and cattle insurance scheme should be launched in entire state forthwith to compensate the farming community from the less caused to their agriculture crops, orchards and livestock due to drought, hailstorm, floods and other natural calamities for which the premium should be borne by the government. Bali Bhagat pleaced that comprehensive lift irrigation scheme projects should be launched to lift water from Chenab and dozens of other streams and water sources for Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts to that entire pulses, vegetables, fruit and other agriculture produce, gets assured irrigation facilities. This, he said, would as well as fruit basket of Jammu and Kashmir improving socio-economic condition of the people inhabiting in this land locked and remote pocket of the state
