National School Football championship from Sept 5

Srinagar, September 3 -Director of Youth Services and Sports Ravinder Kumar Gupta has said that the Jammu and Kashmir state shall host 53rd National School Games Football Championship for Boys under 19 years age at Srinagar from 5th to 10th September, 2007 under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
Gupta was addressing a press conference today at Youth Hostel, Srinagar. He said that it is the first event of 53rd Nation School Games 2007-08 to be hosted by Jammu and Kashmir. He said 23 state/union territory teams affiliated with SGFI numbering 600 players and officials across the country have so far confirmed their participation, while participation of some more state teams is also expected.
The Director said that a high level organizing committee has been constituted under the patronage of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for holding the prestigious championship in a befitting manner. He said various committees have been constituted to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament.
Gupta said that the matches would be played on league cum knockout basis at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, S. P. College, Srinagar, Polo ground West (A) and Polo ground West (B). He said that the matches shall be officiated by qualified coaches and referees of Youth Services and Sports Department, J&K State Sports Council and Sports Authority of India besides officials of the SGFI.
The Director said that the comfortable boarding and lodging arrangements for the participant teams have been made. The teams shall be received by the reception committees at Jammu/ Srinagar for which one reception counter at Jammu/Srinagar each have been established in advance, he added. He said that reception counter at Jammu shall receive the teams at Railway Station, Jammu and Bus Stand, Jammu and facilitate their onward journey to Srinagar.
He said that Reception counter has also been established at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Srinagar and that a control room has been established at youth Hostel, Srinagar which shall function round the clock during the period of championship.
He said that assistance of various departments like Education, PHE, Health, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, rmation, PDD, Tourism, Police, State Sports Council, Door Darshan, Radio Kashmir, Media has also been sought.
R. K. Gupta also extended invitation to Sports lovers, asking them to turn up for watching the best teams of the country in action.
Referring to a question, Gupta said that the Chief Minister has already instructed for construction of 200 bed hostel for the students belonging to various districts of the state who came to participate in various sports activities. In reply to another quest ion, Director Sports said that the Bakshi Stadium has been developed as a National Stadium and the likewise Polo Ground Stadium is also coming up for playing National Games.
