| Now e-FIRs soon | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu Sept 4: Some selected Police stations across Jammu and Kashmir are all set to become the Model Police Stations, where the FIRs will be registered in a computerized system. According to the Police authorities this move is being to expedite the process of investigations and maintain a database of cases for quick and easy perusal. The computerization of the Police Stations is the first step towards e-Policing and after its success the Police is devising the system where people can lodge their complaints by e-mails, said the sources. It may be mentioned here that in several states many departments have a system of computerized registration of complaints where a complainant from any place can lodge complaint anywhere. Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda is reported to have asked the concerned wing of the Police to prepare a comprehensive project report for providing connectivity to all police stations with district, Zonal and State headquarters under Pol-net scheme. According to the Director General of Police the Model Police Stations would have state of the art Information Technology facilities to serve the people better. He has said in the age of science and computer technology all the records and data base about FIRs and other information should be available just on the click of the mouse. He said more police stations in the state would be developed as Model Police Stations.
