| More DySPs to don blue uniform | | | Early Time Reporter Jammu Sept 4: Taking cognizance of the innumerable road accidents taking huge toll of human life as a matter of daily routine, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have finally made some movement to take a part of the responsibility. The matter of road accidents have always been a bone of contention between the Police and the Transport department as each of them shifted responsibilities on each other after every major accident. The Police department maintains that the MVD issues permits and licences without taking adequate measures while the transport department accused the Traffic Police for their irresponsibility in curbing the rash drivers. However, finally the Police have offered to share its part of responsibility and have decided to deploy more officers to its Traffic wing. It was decided, in a meeting chaired by the Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, that more police officers of the rank of Dy. S.Ps would be deployed for traffic management who would be accountable for strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations across the state. Meanwhile, reviewing the pace of progress on construction programme of various police complexes and residential accommodation, the Director General of Police stressed that a comprehensive projects should be formulated keeping in view the present and futuristic requirements of the force. "This should suffice the office and residential accommodation requirements of the force at least for the next 30 years", he said adding the construction activity, if need be, should be completed in a phased manner. He asked the field officers to regularly monitor the progress of construction work of police buildings and ensure their timely completion. The meeting took the decision on consolidation and maintenance of records of police assets and reviewed the progress achieved so far on updating of G.P. Fund entries and providing of update schedules thereof to the police personnel well in time. The Director General of Police while laying stress on the importance of trainings of all ranks of force said that it should be a continue process. He said best possible facilities for training the police personnel would be made available as per present day needs. He also issued instructions for initiating the process of filling up of all the vacancies in the police force at various levels. The meeting also had a detailed discussion on deployment of PSOs. The security aspect of prestigious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project was also discussed. While taking stock of the action taken on the decisions of previous review meetings, Mr. Khoda said that such interventions help in getting updated feed back on the requirements and functioning of various wings of the police as well as the interventions needed to further fine tune their functioning.
