| BSP favours alliance with Praja Parishad | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu September 4:-The state unit of the BSP is in favour of forging an alliance with Praja Parishad and has conveyed to the party high command in UP that the alliance could prove beneficial for the BSP in the next Assembly poll in Jammu and Kashmir.
Since Praja Parishad,led by Chander Mohan Sharma,had been left guessing over the mood of the BSP supreme,Ms Mayawati,it had started exploring other avenues for entering the poll fray next year with an added strength.However,a prominent NRI,Dr B.L.Raina,who happens to be a trusted person in the BSP circles in UP is said to have decided to mediate between Ms Mayawati and Chander Mohan Sharma.Dr Raina has already helped the BSP in getting several hundred Kashmiri Pandits settled in Noida and adjoining areas in UP in the BSP.
Reports said that the BSP supremo was being contacted indirectly some Congress leaders and those belonging to the National Conference for a pre-poll tie-up.However,the state unit of the BJP is opposed to it on the ground that since the BSP was well entrenched in the Jammu region any pre-poll alliance either with the Congress or the National Conference could prove counter productive for the BSP in the election.
Leaders of the state unit of the BSP do not susbscribe to the views of some party leaders in UP that Jammu and Kashmir was not an ideal place,politically,for repating the UP experiment of a tie-up between Dalit and upper cast voters.They are of the opinion that atleast in the Jammu district and some parts of Udhampur and Kathua the experiment could prove successful.
It is in this connection that Dr Raina may arrange a meeting between Chander Mohan Sharma and Ms Mayawati in the near future for finalizing the pre-poll alliance between the two.
