| Attend to people’s problems with human heart: Lone to officers | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar| Sep 04 -With a view to assess the problems and development needs of Charari-e-Sharief town, the Chairman, Legislative Council Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoura and the Minister for Housing and Urban Development Qazi Mohammad Afzal today conducted extensive tour of the area. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Housing and Urban Development announced Rs.2 crore for construction of ongoing project of Khankah. It may be recalled that Rs.4.25 crore stand already utilized on the under construction Khankah, the total cost of which is Rs.26 crore. He asked the executive agencies to speed up the pace of construction while assuring that funds would not be allowed to impede its progress. The Minister also suggested for constitution of a committee with man of integrity as members for facilitating allotment of plots to the genuine beneficiaries. He said that the committee would also render help in assisting officers in executing development works for integrated development of Charari-e-Sharief town. Qazi Afzal said that the main thrust of the government has been integrated development of towns under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Town (UIDSSMT). For the purpose he said sewerage, drainage and solid waste management are being improved. He said Rs.14.12 crore water supply project has also been approved for improving drinking water facility in Charari-e-Sharief. The Commissioner-Secretary, Housing and Urban Development s. Naseema Lanker, Director Local Bodies Abdul Hameed Wani were present on the occasion. Later, a meeting of officers of various departments was convened at Town Hall, Charari-e-Sharief in which the development Scenario of Charari-e-Sharief was reviewed. Addressing the meeting Lone asked officers to work with dedication and listen to the problems of people with human heart.
