| Showkat Kar joins PDP | | | Early Times Reporter
Srinagar| Sep 04 – Showkat Ahmad Kar, a prominent social activist from Tral joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in presence of the party Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here today. PDP Political Secretary, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain was also present on the occasion.
Belonging to the renowned Kar family, Showkat is engaged in social work in his area for the past so many years. He has been tirelessly working for the economic and social development of the people of Tral and the adjoining areas.
Expressing his resolve to dedicate himself to the pro-people policies and programmes of PDP, Showkat said the party has emerged as a genuine voice of the people across the State representing their just concerns and aspirations.
Showkat said under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti, PDP has, not only changed the State's political complexion, but has also set new standards of ethical and value-based politics in the State. He said during the three years it headed the Coalition Government, the PDP leadership remained stuck to its pro-people agenda and delivered on its commitments by providing relief to the people on the security and the developmental fronts.
Showkat said given a chance, PDP is the only party that could bring the State out of the political morass and set it on a new path of development and prosperity for the coming generations. He said the biggest contribution of the PDP to his area is the setting up of the Islamic University of Science and Technology at Awantipora, that would transform the educational and economic scenario of the area.
