Azad directs early restoration of Srinagar-Leh road
Conducts aerial survey of blockade spots

Srinagar, AUGUST 13 :
Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig had an aerial survey of Gagangir area near Gund-Kangan where Srinagar-Leh national highway has got blocked due to cloud burst causing heavy flow of water and land slides accumulating debris at two places. This has resulted in stranding of hundreds of vehicles on either side of the highway.
Chief Minister passed urgent instructions to the Beacon and civil administration to ensure early restoration of the road and clear it for traffic.
Meanwhile, Beacon authorities have pressed into service men and machinery to clear the road and work has been intensified. Chief Engineer Beacon has also reached the spot to monitor the road restoration work which is now in full swing.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mr. Basharat Ahmed was also accompanying Chief Minister.
