All houseless BPL families to get houses by 2009: Minister assures

KATHUA | AUGUST 13 :
All houseless families in rural areas living Below Poverty Line would be convened under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) by 2009.
This was stated by Minister of State for Rural Development Mr Babu Singh in function organized to administer oath of office to the newly elected President of Municipal Committee Parole Mr Gagan Singh here yesterday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Mr Charanjit Singh administered oath of office to Mr Gangan Singh. Director Local Bodies Mr G. A Qureshi also attended the oath ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Babu Singh disclosed that two towns namely Basohli and Nagri Parole have been selected for development under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Scheme under which an amount of Rs.5.11 lakh has been earmarked for each town and a proposal in this behalf has been sent for appraisal which when approved shall usher in a new err of development in these towns. This schemes envisages construction of houses, upgradation of houses and construction of lanes and drains, he added.
Mr Singh also reiterated his resolve to provide honorarium to the Sarpanches and sitting fee to Panches on the pattern of local bodies and said that this will be implemented after fresh panchayat election. The total number of panchayat will reach 3900 after delimitation, as the existing number is 2700,he maintained.
The Minister urged upon the newly elected President and other councilors to work collectively for the development of town without political consideration.
