| Teachers’ day celebrated widely | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 5 “Let us pledge to hold the dignity of a teacher and salute the millions of teachers working in the Schools, Colleges and Universities” said Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, addressing a function organized by the Jammu University Teachers Association in connection with teacher’s day. He said that the task of a teacher is to transform the life of the students through the medium of education and produce decent human beings and scholars to build the nation. The joy of sharing the knowledge is unique and rare challenge. He congratulated the University faculty members for their outstanding contributions to bring the University of Jammu on International Horizon. Prof. Mattoo made a special mention of Prof. Neelu Rohmetra who has recently been decorated with “Best Teacher” Award. On this day we should revitalize ourselves to shoulder our responsibilities. A teacher has to move fast raising the standards in teaching and research. ‘JK United Teachers Federation’ celebrated Teachers day with zeal and enthusiasm in consonance with its past practice by honouring the retired members of teaching community during the last one year and offered condolences and offered symbolic offering to the families of the teachers passed during the period. Teachers in thousands from all the districts of the state also participated in the function. M.K. Dwivedi, Director Rural Development was the chief guest and Kamal Gupta President, JK Private Schools Association presided over the function whereas Khursheed Alam President Govt. Employees Joint action committee, Kashmir, Chand Bhatt general Secretary, Civil Secretariat, Non-Gazetted Employees Union and Anwar Beg, Convenor, Govt. Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu were the Guests of Honour on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion M.K. Dwivedi dwelt exclusively on the role and the service rendered by the teachers to the society in general and students in particular. He termed the teaching profession as saintly, missionary and service to the humanity. A graceful function was held in the Govt. S.P.M.R. College of Commerce, Jammu on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. A symposium was arranged on the topic “Role of Teachers in Nation Building”. Eights students of the college expressed their views highlighting the vital role played by teachers in shaping the destiny of the students and thereby providing a rock foundation of a strong nation. Those who spoke on the occasion included Farnaz, Surbhi Sharma, Archana Gupta, Bhanu Pratap Singh, Irbha Magotra, Kritika Khajuria, Radhika Narang and Vinod Badyal. The programme was compered Irbha Magotra. Principal of the college Dr. G.L. Thapa speaking on the occasion emphasized that teachers should dededicate themselves to the noble task of teaching on this sacred day. Teacher’s Day was celebrated in Deewan Badrinath Vidya Mandir Mangat Ram Sharma, Health Minister was the chief guest on the occasion. He presented Dr. Yog Prakash Award of the Best teacher, 2007 to Amrit Kour who returned in March, 2007 after serving the institution for 38 years. He also presented best teachers awards to the teachers in the school. On the occasion, the awards were presented to Dr. Baljeet Singh, Darshan Lal, Bhawana Gupta, Anita Ganju, Anuradha Sharma, Manmeet Kour, Santosh Rekhi, Manju Amla, Kamini Nanda and others. He stressed the role of teacher in the society and said that today Teacher’s role has become even more important. On the eve of Teacher’s Day Euro Care celebrated the Teacher’s day with great pump and show.Children came dressed up as a teacher girls look beautiful in saree and boys look gorgeous in suits young kids copied their teacher and acted in the same manner which was appreciable and hilarious to the teachers. In order to groom the talent and confidence Euro Care organized such a programme. The main objective of holding this function was to inculcate the national values among the children. The institute wants to spread the message of Dr. Radha Krishnan to every one through the young kids. AHA-Institute, on the occasion of teacher’s Day, organized a cultural show. It was a colorful event and all the students participated with great enthusiasm. The students participated in modeling. Students also participated in solo performances like Singing, & dancing.On the whole it was a funky package for the students from the academy. Sahil, Ravikant and Rahul Raina Adjudged best Models among Boys and Mehak, Shilpi and Ridhima are among Girls. Goan Dance, silsila dance and Punjabi number adjudged best dances. Bilal adjudged best singer. The teacher’s day was celebrated by the zonal officer of State Bank of India (SBI) in collaboration with Government College for women, Gandhi Nagar here today. The chief guest on the occasion was Commissioner Higher Education, P.K. Jain. On the occasion Dy. General Manager SBI, S.P. Singh felicitated the principal of principal of Women College, Gandhi Nagar and Parade beside Principal of MAM College, Gandhi Memorial Science College, and SPMR College of Commerce for their contribution in education sector. Singh, while paying tributes to teachers, he said they are real builders of the Nation. He informed the gathering present on the occasion about various initiatives launched by SBI throughout the country occasion presented various colourful cultural programmes, which were appreciated by the audience. Among others present on the occasion were Director Colleges, N.D. Wani and Principal of various Degree Colleges. Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarathi Parishad celebrated teacher’s day in its own style by applying Tilak to al the teachers in Jammu University and various colleges. ABVP delegates led by Mukesh Kumar President ABVP J.U organizing secretary of J.U. Kishore Kumar and Ajay Sharma, Rahul Vaid assembled in Vice-Chancellor officer and started their campaign of congratulated teachers on this special days by distributing sweets among the teachers. Then they move to Examination block D.A.A., D.S.W., Law School, Law dept., Sociology Dept. etc. and various others departments of Jammu University. By celebrating teacher’s day ABVP put forward it stand for believing education sector as family in which teachers are parents students were children and institutions as home.
