| New Kala: Art work allowed rotting | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu, Sept 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, also known as Cultural Academy and considered as custodian of the rich heritage and art of the state seems busy with its public relations and other entertainment activities leaving precious art work to rot in the Kala Kendra.
The breathtaking beautiful art work done by artists and evaluates at lakhs of rupees is getting destroyed in the Kala Kendra because of ill treatment of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and negligence of staff appointed there.
The staff appointed by Academy does not have any required professional qualification or technical expertise preserve the art work. As a result precious art works of artists is losing its shape.
There is six person staff in Kala Kendra from which one is instructor in appl1ied art and other is machine man in applied art. Remaining four are class fourth employees who are totally non-technical. Whereas in Kala Kendra there are Sculpture, Painting and Graphics arts is displayed and persons of having degrees in these streams are required to handle these monuments. But academy never thinks of appointing the persons who have possessed degrees in these streams and precious art pieces are destroying unknowingly by the non-technical staff.
How they are taking care of precious monuments and art pieces one can easily guess one a single visit there. Two sculptures which were lying on ground there from last many days but no one are taking interest to lift those sculptures. Whereas some wooden sculpture are also destroying by termites but no body taking care of it. This not ends here some precious paintings of country's famous painters are also getting destroyed but no one is serious to look after it.
Here is to mention that all the monuments and sculpture are precious art pieces and displayed by Kala Kendra for its beautification but are getting destroyed by the non-technical staff. But Secretary of Art, Culture and Languages are not showing any interest regarding this.
Art lover who visit there feels regretful to see it. Kala Kendra which is meant for preserving and flourishing art and culture of our state are derailed from its purpose and not properly doing its work. Official whether that may be lower rank or higher busy in pleasing their higher ups.
