Teacher’s Day was celebrated in Sainik School Nagrota yesterday. The day-long celebration began with the young cadets expressing warm greetings to their teachers and instructions. A special Morning Assembly was held in which the senior cadets delivered brief speeches on the significance of Teacher’s Day. Gp Capt V T Parnaik, Principal garlanded the portrait of Dr. Radhakrishanan and lighted the Lamp of Knowledge’. On this momentous occasion the Principal felicitated the academic faculty with presents. In his address to the staff and cadets of the school, the Principal described an anecdote from the life of Dr. S. Radhakrishan as a multi-faceted personality-a renowned educationist, philosopher, statesman and diplomat. Commending the role played by teachers in shaping the personality of each cadet, the principal emphasized that the cadets should also realize their responsibilities. Major Deepak Meel, Officiating Headmaster also expressed his warm felicitation to the teaching staff on this occasion. The celebration concluded with a tea party in the school Foyer in which the senior cadets also joined with the staff. As a tradition, senior cadets took up the role of their favourite teachers and engaged the classes. A Barakhana for the staff and cadets was arranged in the Cadets’ Mess.
