Lawyers strike in Jammu enters 48th day
8/14/2006 8:38:25 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORTER
Jammu, Aug 14 :
All judicial work in the local bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and lower courts remained paralysed as the indefinite strike by the lawyers here entered 48th day today.
The lawyers are on an indefinite strike since June 28 against the denial of right of defence to the accused in the controversial sex scandal case. They are also demanding that the case be transferred out of Srinagar.

Attorneys affiliated to Jammu Bar Association (BAJ) and from other five districts of Jammu division, were present in the court but did not participate in the proceedings.

BAJ president Ved Raj Wazir, while talking to UNI said, ''our general body has rejected the Chief Justice request to call off the strike. We will not resume work till our demand was not accepted,'' he added.
