| Two extornist held, money recovered | | | Early Times Reporter Doda | Sep 7 Doda police arrested two extortionists, impersonating themselves as militants and involved in looting a large number of people on toy gun point here today while their two other accomplice are still absconding. According to reports on August 28 some persons impersonating as militants entered in three houses at village Tendla and extorted cash worth rupees 8500 from one Ghulam Mustafa Wani, food store dealer Bhatyas, cash worth rupees 8000 and gold silver ornaments worth rupees 15000 from Mohd Issaq son of Shunkar Din and cash worth rupees 4000 from Ahmedullah Malik son of Lala Malik. On receipt of this information, case FIR No 102/2007 under section 397, 458, 386RPC 7/27AA was registered in police station Gandoh. A police spokesman said today that SSP Doda Manohar Singh constituted a special team of police officials headed by SHO Gandoh Inspector Farooq Ahmed for investigation of the case. During the course of investigation, the team conducted raids at different places and today arrested two extortionists namely Mohd Ayoub Wani son of Mohd Sharief resident of Malik Pura and Irshad Ahmed Abdul Latif Zargar resident of Gandow and recovered the extorted property and cash worth rupees 35500, one toy AK and toy grenade and two lady dresses and took them to police station for further interrogation. Sources said during interrogation both the accused admitted to have indulged in extortion. The accused used to impersonate as militants by using toy guns and extort money and gold ornaments. Sometimes they used to move in the guise of ladies by wearing ladies dress wherever they feel it right. The spokesman further said that two more accused identified as Majid Hussain Malik son of Mohammed Ayoub Malik resident of Tilogra and Shabir Ahmed son of Abdul Gani Lone resident of Dheisan Tendla are still absconding for whom search is going on. Both the accused are being put to sustained questioning and some more arrests are likely to take place shortly, the spokesman added.
