| 1 militant killed in Poonch; encounter in progress | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | Sep 07 : A militant was killed in a fierce gunbattle with the security forces in Mendhar area of Poonch district, where two more militants were said to be hold up, while police arrested two persons impersonating as militants in Doda district. Official sources said that based on a specific inputs army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Sangote in Mendhar tehsil this afternoon, official sources told News Agency of Kashmir.
A contact was established with a group of hiding militants at about 3:30 PM, today, treggering an encounter, sources said. One militant was killed, while two more were still hold up in the hideout.
Sources said that encounter was still going on, when the last report came in.
Meanwhile Doda police claims to have two persons for impersonating as militants. They have been identified as Muhammed Ayub and Irshad Ahmad.
SSP Doda Manohwar Singh told NAK that a cash of rupees 20500.00 besides gold and silver ornaments artificial AK gun and grenade have also been recovered from the arrested persons.
