Early Times Reporter
Jammu|Sep-8- Accusing the Congress led UPA Government of fiddling with the so- called Kashmir problem, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said the first and foremost issue that needs to be tackled with firm hands is that of cross border terrorism. ‘What was achieved during Vajpayee led NDA regime is being eroded by the UPA Government’., he said adding that during the NDA rule the Pak President Gen. Musharaff had publically promised that no soil under their control would be allowed for cross border terror but the Congress led government has badly failed to get implemented this important commitment too.
Addressing a public gathering at border village of Kaleeth in Chhamb sector today, Prof Gupta said that little attention is being paid to force Pakistan to stop cross border terrorism and bloodshed of innocent people in addition to evil designs of ISI of Pakistan to indulge in sabotage and subversion in various parts of the country.
Referring to the demand of self rule, autonomy or dividing the state of Jammu and Kashmir into different communal Zones as was being proposed by the military ruler of Pakistan and some forces in Kashmir, Prof Gupta said these demands have little relevance with the terrorism which is proving a great threat to the human values as also to the unity of the country.
With regard to recent meet of Working Group on State-Centre relations, the BJP leader pointed out the manner in which the issues came up for discussion and a government officer Wajahat Habib Ullah was deputed by the Congress leadership to air his controversial views based upon totally communal considerations indicates that Congress leadership is trying to fire their views by putting the gun at the shoulders of others. He said in Jammu and Kashmir, the main problem has been that of communal approach of the Congress leadership otherwise the state was an integral part of India as per the law, after the late Maharaja Hari Singh had signed the Instrument of Accession to Indian Union he added and observed that it was a big folly to incorporate Article 370 in the Indian Constitution though it was a temporary provision.
About the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP leader alleged that there was anarchy and misuse of funds and added that crores of rupees are being spent on organizing Congress conventions while little is being done to provide basic amenities of life to the farmers and release of timely salary to the government employees. He asked the people to force the rulers to perform or quit.
